Wolverhampton’s free post-exam help runs to 7 September
Students in Wolverhampton who are unsure what to do after receiving GCSE, A-level, T-level or other exam results can access free, face-to-face careers support at the Civic Centre. Connexions advisers will hold drop-in sessions every weekday from Tuesday 18 August to Monday 7 September 2026, between 12pm and 2pm.
The City of Wolverhampton Council says the sessions are intended for young people collecting results this month, particularly those who have not yet secured a place in education, work or training for September. No appointment is required: students can attend on any weekday during the stated period.
Weekday hours at the Civic Centre
- Dates: Tuesday 18 August to Monday 7 September 2026
- Time: 12pm to 2pm every weekday
- Venue: Civic Centre, Wolverhampton
- Cost: Free
- Entry: Drop-in; no appointment required
- Who can attend: Young people receiving GCSE, A-level, T-level or other results
The council has not assigned separate Civic Centre dates to different qualifications. This means students can choose a weekday within the available period rather than having to attend on their particular results day.
Help with apprenticeships, college and training
Connexions careers advisers will offer careers education, information, impartial advice and guidance. The support covers decisions about further education, employment and training, allowing students to discuss the route most relevant to their circumstances.

Advisers can help young people find and apply for apprenticeships, sign up with colleges or training providers, and develop career plans. A student who has not secured a September destination can therefore use the drop-in both to explore available routes and to get help with the next application step.
The service is not restricted to students following one qualification pathway. It is available to young people receiving different types of results during August, including those who remain undecided after results day.
Where advisers will be on GCSE results day
On Thursday 20 August, Connexions advisers will also be present at Our Lady of St Chads Academy, Smestow Academy, Moseley Park Academy, Vireo Academy and Kairos Academy for GCSE results day.

Information and guidance resources are being provided to all other city schools so their students can access advice about post-16 options. Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said support is available whatever a young person’s results and encouraged students to explore their options rather than feel they must decide alone.
Students who attend one of the five named schools may be able to speak to an adviser there on 20 August. The weekday Civic Centre sessions provide the wider drop-in option throughout the period ending on 7 September.
Other ways to contact Connexions
Connexions also holds a regular weekly drop-in every Monday afternoon at i10 Unit 5, Victoria Square, Wolverhampton. The council announcement does not specify transport arrangements or accessibility details for the Civic Centre sessions.
Students or parents who need advice or want to check practical arrangements can email connexions@wolverhampton.gov.uk, call 01902 554499, or visit Workbox. The event details and contact information were published by the City of Wolverhampton Council.
