Brentwood residents can find free winter support at two events

People gather at night in London before a large illuminated winter sign.

Brentwood residents can drop in for free advice, winter warmth packs and a slipper swap at either of two Winter Warmth Events this autumn. The first runs on Wednesday 21 October, 9.30am–2.30pm, at St Peter’s Church, Claughton Way, Hutton, CM13 1JS. The second is on Monday 9 November, 9.30am–12pm, at Merrymeade House, Merrymeade Chase, Brentwood, CM15 9FE. Both are free, and no booking is specified; residents may arrive at any time during the session.

Hosted by Brentwood Borough Council in partnership with local health and wellbeing organisations, the events are aimed at Brentwood residents looking for practical support and ways to stay warm, safe and well through winter. You can choose either date and venue; the source does not indicate that you need to attend both.

What residents can get at the events

The programme includes free winter warmth packs and a slipper swap, along with practical guidance for the colder months. Residents can also find information about local activities and advice on health and wellbeing. The source does not describe eligibility conditions for the packs or explain how the slipper swap works, so ask the organisers at the event if you need those details.

Complimentary tea and cake will be available. The gatherings are also intended to give people a chance to meet others and make community connections, alongside finding out what support is available.

Councillor Vicky Davies, chair of Brentwood’s Health and Wellbeing Board, said the events offer practical advice and a warm welcome at a time when household costs and energy bills are putting pressure on many people. She encouraged residents to come along, find out about available help and take part in the slipper swap. The council also thanked St Peter’s Church, Daily Bread Café and Merrymeade House for helping make the events possible.
