Croydon’s Executive Mayor Jason Perry has congratulated Crystal Palace Football Club after the club won the 2026 UEFA Conference League Final, calling the victory a landmark moment for Palace supporters and South London.

In a message to the club chairman, Perry said Croydon Council would be “honoured” to work with Crystal Palace on a possible victory parade and civic celebration in the borough. No date, route or event details have been confirmed.

Perry, who described himself as a Palace supporter and season ticket holder, said the win belonged to the players, manager, coaching staff, club staff and supporters.

He said a Croydon celebration would give fans of all ages a chance to mark the club’s first European final win in the place it calls home. The council’s statement framed any parade as a civic event for Croydon residents and the wider South London Palace community.

The mayor said Selhurst Park remained one of the great homes of English football and that Croydon was proud to be its home.

First European final follows Wembley cup success

The council’s message places the European win one year after Crystal Palace’s FA Cup victory at Wembley. For supporters, that makes the 2026 UEFA Conference League Final win the second major milestone in as many years.

Crystal Palace Football Club has long been tied to South London, with Selhurst Park sitting at the centre of matchday life for many families, schools, businesses and community groups across Croydon and nearby areas.

Celebration plans still depend on club talks

Croydon Council has signalled willingness to help deliver a victory parade, but the next step would be coordination with the club on whether an event goes ahead and how it would be managed.

Any confirmed public celebration would be expected to require detailed planning around crowd safety, transport, road closures and stewarding before supporters are asked to attend.

The council’s position, as published in the mayor’s message, is that Croydon would be proud to help Crystal Palace bring the European trophy home.
