Britain in Bloom judges have toured Wrexham County Borough, assessing floral displays, community projects and environmental work entered in the 2026 competition.

The judging route covered parks, gardens, a nursery and the city centre. Wrexham Council News reported that volunteers, trainees and council staff explained the work behind the displays and sustainability projects during the visit.

Four stops before the city-centre tour

Judges visited Ty Mawr Country Park, Penycae Orchard, Pentrebychan Nursery and Erlas Walled Garden before continuing into central Wrexham.

Floral displays lined the route through the county borough. In the city centre, the judges also saw a butterfly trail running during the school summer holiday.

The tour gave local organisations and volunteers an opportunity to show how their planting and environmental work contributes to public spaces across Wrexham.

Bug hotel, rainwater systems and composting

The assessment extended beyond the appearance of the displays. Judges were shown the new WRECSAM bug hotel and rainwater-harvesting systems, while participants discussed recycling, composting and traineeship opportunities.

Councillor David A Bithell, Wrexham’s lead member for environment, said the council was proud to present projects developed by staff and volunteers throughout the year. He said those involved had worked hard on the displays along the judging route.

Wrexham awaits the competition decision

Councillor Nigel Williams, lead member for economy, business and tourism, thanked everyone who created displays or met the judges. He said the planting was providing “a beautiful welcome to residents and visitors alike”, regardless of the final result.

The council’s report did not provide a date for the Britain in Bloom 2026 decision. The next confirmed step is the announcement of the competition result.
