Residents thinking ahead about care, housing, health or finances can speak directly with local organisations at two free Solihull drop-in events in October. Solihull Council will host the sessions on Friday 9 October at The Loft in Chelmsley Wood and Monday 12 October at The Core Library in Solihull town centre; no booking is required.

The events are intended for people planning their own later life, as well as those seeking information for a parent or loved one. Advice will cover finances and planning, vaccinations and health, and housing and care choices.

Two dates for residents seeking practical advice

The first session runs from 12pm to 5pm on Friday 9 October at The Loft, Bluebell, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5TN. The venue is above ASDA on the second floor.

Council, NHS and charities will staff information stalls

Stalls are due to include teams from Solihull Council, the NHS, Age UK Solihull and Carers Trust Solihull, alongside other local experts. The format allows visitors to raise a particular question rather than attend a set presentation.

Councillor Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health, said the events were designed to help people consider later-life decisions early and with confidence, whether the issue is care options or remaining independent at home.

Free entry with no booking required

Both events are free and operate as drop-ins, so residents can attend without reserving a place. The council says a fuller list of stallholders is available through its later-life information page.

The key practical detail is that the Chelmsley Wood event is at The Loft above ASDA, while the town-centre session is at The Core Library.
