Edinburgh: arrest after two South Bridge assaults

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault and a separate assault on South Bridge in Edinburgh, Police Scotland has confirmed.

The incidents happened in the early hours of Saturday, 1 August. A 42-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries. Police enquiries are continuing to trace the victim of the second reported assault.

Police Scotland said the serious assault took place at about 2.10am on South Bridge.

The 42-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Police have described his injuries as serious, but have not released further information about his condition or the circumstances of the assault.

Another man was reported to have been assaulted on the same street. His identity has not been made public and officers are continuing enquiries to trace him.
