Two drop-in events in Middlewich and Macclesfield
The first event will be held on Tuesday 9 June at Salinae Day Centre, Middlewich, CW10 9DG. The second will take place on Thursday 11 June at Macclesfield Town Hall, in the Silk Room, SK10 1EA.
Both sessions run from 10.30am to 2.30pm and are being organised by Cheshire East Carers Hub and adult social care as part of Carers Week 2026, which runs from 8 to 14 June.
The events are designed to bring support services into one place so carers can speak to organisations, ask questions and meet others in similar circumstances. Refreshments will be available.
Cheshire East Council says more than 34,000 residents across the borough are unpaid carers, around one in every 11 people aged five and over. That includes people supporting family members, friends or neighbours living with long-term illness, disability, mental health needs or age-related conditions.

Advice areas carers can explore on the day
Organisations attending the Cheshire East events are expected to offer support across a range of practical and wellbeing topics.
The listed areas include:
- Health and wellbeing support
- Benefits and financial advice
- Dementia support
- Young carers services
- Community groups and respite activities
- End-of-life and future planning support
The focus is on practical help rather than a formal appointment system. For some residents, that may mean checking what support exists for a relative with dementia. For others, it may mean finding out about benefits advice, respite options, or services for a young person who helps care for someone at home.
The council said feedback from local carers has highlighted the value of connection, flexibility and everyday support. Comments shared by carers included: “Talking to other carers made all the difference” and “Support that fits around carers’ lives matters.”
Residents who do not call themselves carers are included
The events are not limited to people already registered with a service. Cheshire East Council is encouraging anyone who looks after another person to attend, even if they do not think of themselves as a carer.
That distinction matters because unpaid care often starts gradually. A resident may begin by helping with meals, medication, transport or appointments, then find over time that the role has become part of daily life.
Councillor Jill Rhodes, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for adult social care, said unpaid carers were “at the heart of our communities in Cheshire East” and that their dedication supports loved ones as well as the wider health and care system.
She added that residents who care for someone “are encouraged to come along to the events, seek support, and connect with others.”
