Cheshire East carers get free support events in June
Unpaid carers in Cheshire East are being invited to two free Carers Week Community Events in June, with advice, local support services and refreshments available on the day.
The events run from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Tuesday 9 June at Salinae Day Centre in Middlewich and Thursday 11 June at Macclesfield Town Hall. They are free to attend, and no booking is required.
They are aimed at unpaid carers and residents who care for someone, including people who may not usually describe themselves as a carer.

The events are being organised by Cheshire East Carers Hub and adult social care as part of Carers Week 2026, which runs from 8 to 14 June under the theme “Building Carer Friendly Communities”.
Cheshire East Council says more than 34,000 residents across the borough are unpaid carers, around one in every 11 people aged five and over. That includes people supporting family members, friends or neighbours living with long-term illness, disability, mental health needs or age-related conditions.

Support available on the day
Attendees will be able to speak with organisations offering help across several areas of caring life. The programme is designed around practical advice and connection, rather than a formal booked session.

“Carers Week is a chance for everyone in Cheshire East to show appreciation, raise awareness, and help create communities where carers feel valued, supported and understood,” she said.
She added that residents who care for someone, even if they do not think of themselves as a “carer”, are encouraged to come along, seek support and connect with others.
