Bexley road closures and planning notices residents need

Bexley residents have four public notices to check this week, covering road closures, parking restrictions, water mains works and a planning application in the Brook Street Conservation Area.

The notices were dated 27 May 2026. The first restrictions begin on 1 June, with a further one-day road closure due on 2 June.

Frinsted Road closures start on 1 June

Frinsted Road in Erith will be affected by temporary road closures linked to a new water main installation. The order covers closures between Beechfield Road and Twigg Close, Stuart Mantle Way and Filby Close, and Filby Close and Birling Road.

The order comes into effect on 1 June 2026 and is valid for up to 18 months. The notice says the works are expected to be completed within that period, with signed diversion routes using nearby roads including Stelling Road, Stuart Mantle Way, Birling Road, Colyers Lane and Ramsden Road.

Emergency service vehicles, works vehicles and movements directed by police or traffic wardens are exempt where applicable.

Sidcup parking and loading restrictions

Royal Road and Maylands Drive in Sidcup will have waiting restrictions and loading prohibitions on both sides for the full length of each road.

These restrictions are for water mains replacement works by M Group Water Ltd on behalf of Thames Water. The order starts on 1 June 2026 and is valid for 18 months, although the works are expected to take 124 days.

No alternative traffic route is required, and the restrictions are to be removed when they are not needed.

One-day Bexley closure for highway works

Upton Road South will be closed from Basing Drive to Cross Lane on 2 June 2026 for highway improvement works by a council contractor. Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane will also be closed at their junctions with Upton Road South.

The works are expected to be completed within one day. The signed alternative route is via Upton Road South, Parkhurst Road, Parkhill Road and Riverdale Road, with access maintained for Upton Road South, Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane.

Brook Street planning application open for comments

A planning application has been submitted for 245 Brook Street, Erith, Kent, within the Brook Street Conservation Area. The proposal is for a single-storey side and rear wrap-around extension.

Residents have 21 days from the 27 May 2026 notice date to submit observations, quoting reference 26/00980/FUL. Written responses should be sent to Development Management, Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT, or submitted through the council’s Planning Application Information Online system.

Because this is a householder application, any comments made at this stage may be the only comments passed to the Planning Inspectorate if the application is refused and later appealed under the Householder Appeal Service.
