Worthing residents can shape a review of town centre partnerships
Residents and businesses can submit questions for a review of how organisations work together in Worthing town centre. The Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JOSC) will meet at Worthing Town Hall at 6.30pm on Wednesday 4 November 2026; questions must be emailed by midday on Friday 30 October.
Send questions to democratic.services@adur-worthing.gov.uk. The committee will consider them during its public question time.
What the committee will review
JOSC will hear from organisations involved in supporting Worthing town centre about current partnership work and how it could be improved. Representatives will describe their experience and recommendations, then answer questions from councillors.

The committee aims to present recommendations from the meeting to Adur & Worthing Councils’ Joint Strategic Committee for consideration. The meeting is also due to include an update from the JOSC Budget Scrutiny Working Group, which examines the councils’ financial position.
Who will take part
The committee includes councillors from Adur and Worthing. Those expected to give evidence include Adur & Worthing Councils chief executive Paul Brewer, officers from Worthing Borough Council and West Sussex County Council, and representatives of:

- Worthing Business Improvement District
- Worthing & Adur Chamber of Commerce
- Hemiko
- Worthing Town Centre Small Business Owners Network
- Worthing Lions Club
- Worthing Rotary Club
Worthing chair of JOSC Councillor Carl Walker said the review would bring together public services, businesses, community organisations and residents to identify what works, where barriers exist and how collaboration could be strengthened. Adur chair Councillor Joss Loader said the committee wants traders and local people to have a meaningful voice through public questions.
How to take part
Email questions for the committee to democratic.services@adur-worthing.gov.uk by 12 noon on Friday 30 October 2026. The meeting begins at 6.30pm on Wednesday 4 November at Worthing Town Hall. The councils say all are welcome to attend.
