Free summer places across Wolverhampton

The Yo! Wolves Summer Programme is designed for the long school holiday period, when families often need structured activities, food support and safe places for children to spend part of the day.

The council says the programme will run at locations across Wolverhampton, with activities delivered through city partners and funding from the Department for Education. Exact venue addresses were not included in the source notice, so families will need to check the Yo! Wolverhampton Young Opportunities booking route when places go live.

Places are offered on a first come, first served basis. Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said demand is always high and urged families to book as soon as the system opens on Friday.

Activities include sport, cooking and trips out

The programme covers a broad mix of sessions rather than one fixed activity day. The council lists arts, crafts, drama, sports, cooking, martial arts and snooker among the activities available.

Trips out are also included in the summer offer. Every activity includes a meal, which is a key part of the Holiday Activities and Food programme for eligible children and young people.

For parents and carers, the main practical point is that the programme combines activity provision with food, rather than requiring separate arrangements for lunch or refreshments during the booked session.

Families following HAF availability in nearby areas may also find it useful to compare other booking notices, including Demoduck’s guide to free summer activities in Coventry, while using the Wolverhampton booking route for this local programme.

Who can apply for HAF places

The Wolverhampton HAF eligibility rules listed by the council cover children who go to a Wolverhampton school and receive benefit-related free school meals.

The programme is also open to children who have a SEND plan, are supported by a social worker, or are educated at home. Pupils who receive universal free meals are encouraged to apply for free school meals so they can access HAF support where eligible.

The source notice points families to the full eligibility details through the council’s information on accessing free school holiday activities with food during school breaks.

Booking opens on Friday 26 June

Bookings go live from Friday 26 June through the Yo! Wolverhampton Young Opportunities website. The council has not listed a single venue address, start time or closing date in the source notice.

Families who meet the criteria should be ready to check available sessions once booking opens, because the council says places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
