Bookings are open for the inaugural Tywi Valley Path Festival of Walks, running from 16 September to 4 October along the route between Carmarthen and Llandeilo. Walks and activities across the Tywi Valley

The programme begins on 16 September with a West Wales Wild Watch Session at Nantgaredig. A Weave and Walk experience with Quiet Walks follows in Llandeilo on 17 September, combining a creative workshop with time on the path.

Karsten Minter leads a Castles and Gardens Walk on 20 September. Nordic Cymru will hold Nordic walking sessions on 21 and 27 September, providing two dates for that activity.

A Tale of Two Rivers takes place on 26 September, while the final listed event is a guided walk through Golden Grove Parkland on 4 October. Together, the programme highlights six different experiences, with the Nordic walking session offered twice.

The festival will also draw attention to the path’s connections across the Tywi Valley. Its route includes landmark bridges over the Rivers Tywi and Cothi, installed by Walters Group to improve access and connectivity along the path. The company is supporting the festival.

The varied programme gives people several ways to approach the route. Wildlife watchers can begin with the Nantgaredig session, while those interested in the area’s heritage can consider the castles, gardens and river-focused walks. Weave and Walk adds a creative workshop to the experience, and the Nordic Cymru dates offer an alternative walking format.

Councillor Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said the festival would help walkers discover the heritage, wildlife and stories associated with the route.
