The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, will transform into an immersive, after-dark experience this autumn as the annual Halloween at Kew light trail returns to London. Running from 16 October to 1 November 2026, the event features a 1.5 km trail through the historic grounds, curated to offer varying levels of intensity for families and thrill-seekers alike.

A New Lineup of Spooky Attractions

This year’s edition introduces several new installations designed to enhance the atmospheric walk. Visitors will navigate through Dracula’s Lair, a haunted Cursed Tomb, and a dark Medieval Dungeon. The route also includes a mysterious Forest Ritual setting, where performers bring eerie woodland ceremonies to life.

Returning fan-favourites include the Headless Horseman, who will haunt the gardens alongside a path illuminated by pumpkin-headed figures. The experience concludes at the all-new Monster Disco, where visitors can dance beneath giant skull-shaped mirror balls led by a designated Dance Master. To maintain the atmosphere, professional fire performers will be stationed along the trail, and seasonal food vendors will serve items such as freaky fries, monster marshmallows, and hot toddies.

Choosing Your Scare Level

Organisers have structured the event into three time-based categories to help visitors select the appropriate level of intensity for their group:

Daylight (up to 6pm): Recommended for families and younger children.
Twilight (6pm – 7.30pm): A transition period where the atmosphere begins to darken.
Moonlight (after 7.30pm): The peak of the experience, offering the darkest and most immersive environment.

Essential Visitor Information

Tickets are currently on sale through the official Kew Gardens website. Pricing varies by date and membership status, with off-peak adult tickets starting at £16.75 for members and £19.50 for non-members, rising to £20.55 and £24 respectively during peak periods. Family and child-specific tickets are also available.

Access to the event is restricted to the Victoria, Elizabeth, and Brentford gates. Note that the gardens close at 10pm, with the final entry time strictly set at 8.30pm. While powered wheelchairs are permitted, the use of bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, and scooters is prohibited within the grounds.
