Southam Young Carers drop-ins begin 8 September
Young carers in the Southam area can attend four support and social sessions between September and December 2026. The first is on 8 September, from 4.30pm to 6pm, at Southam Community Centre, Tiger Moth Drive, Southam, CV47 1AS.
Warwickshire County Council’s notice does not specify a fee. Anyone interested in joining should email Carers Trust Heart of England at youngcarers@carerstrusthofe.org.uk.
The autumn programme follows a family picnic held at the community centre on Tuesday 11 August. Young carers and their families spent the afternoon sharing food, playing games and taking a break from their caring responsibilities. The Chair of Warwickshire County Council, Cllr Dale Keeling, and the council’s portfolio holder for Adult Social Care and Health, Cllr Anne-Marie Sonko, attended the event.
Four Southam sessions running through December
All four confirmed sessions are scheduled for 4.30pm to 6pm at Southam Community Centre. The dates provide one meeting each month for the rest of the announced 2026 programme.

The Christmas party on 8 December is the final session listed for the year. Warwickshire County Council has not provided any dates beyond that meeting, so families considering later support should use the published contact details to ask about future arrangements.
What young carers can expect
The groups are intended for young carers living in the Southam area. Organisers describe them as a safe and supportive place where participants can unwind and socialise with peers who understand similar experiences.
Carers Trust Heart of England is delivering the sessions in partnership with Southam Town Council and Warwickshire County Council. Cllr Sonko said young carers take on considerable responsibilities at home and benefit from dedicated opportunities to relax, make friends and have fun. She encouraged young carers in the area to attend the sessions planned for the remainder of the year.
The picnic and the drop-in programme serve different formats, but the council presents them as part of the same continuing support: the August event brought young carers and their families together, while the forthcoming meetings provide regular opportunities for young carers to spend time with their peers.
