Higham Road closure timetable

Phase Dates and times What drivers should expect
Drainage improvements Monday 3 August to Friday 28 August; works 8am–5pm Full road closure remains in place 24/7
Road resurfacing Friday 28 August to Saturday 12 September; works 8pm–6am Night-time closures and delays during the resurfacing period

North Northamptonshire Council says the scheme will improve drainage infrastructure and renew the road surface, helping maintain the route for road users, residents and local businesses.

Clearly signed diversion routes will operate throughout the works. Motorists should allow extra time, follow the signs and be prepared to approach some properties by alternative routes. Residents are also asked not to park inside the designated works area.

Access, buses and diversions during the works

Emergency vehicle access will remain available where it is safe to do so. During the resurfacing phase, access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, but delays may occur.

Bus operators have been notified and will make alternative arrangements as required. Anyone travelling through Rushden should check the signs on the day, particularly during the overnight resurfacing closures.

The work follows the same practical pattern as other local schemes involving drainage and resurfacing, such as the recently repaired Rainow road, where route access and surface renewal were managed in stages. Further roadworks information is available through North Northamptonshire Council’s highways service.
