Madeley drivers get a smoother lane and flooding fix
Drivers and residents on Bower End Lane in Madeley now have a resurfaced road following the completion of a package of highway repairs. Staffordshire County Council confirmed the work on 4 August 2026.
Crews repaired potholes before resurfacing the lane. Damaged kerbs, ironworks and drainage systems were also included in the scheme.

Resurfacing and roadside repairs completed
The new surface is intended to extend the usable life of Bower End Lane. Repairs to the kerbs and ironworks address further points where deterioration could affect the condition of the road.
Although Staffordshire County Council described the project as a small scheme, it said the improvements had received positive feedback from residents living along the lane.
Patrick Allen, the council’s Cabinet Support Member for Highways, said the work had made a “huge difference” and would help prolong the life of the road.
Drainage work targets persistent surface water
Water from adjacent fields had regularly gathered on Bower End Lane, contributing to damage to the road surface. The repaired drainage system is designed to reduce that accumulation and limit the repeated water-related deterioration described by the council.
