Let’s Talk Ellon: free planning drop-in on 22 August
Ellon residents and community groups can take part in a free, drop-in conversation about the town’s future on Saturday, 22 August 2026. Let’s Talk – Ellon runs from 9am to 1pm at the Farmer’s Market in Neil Ross Square, with visitors welcome to arrive at any point during the four-hour session.
Aberdeenshire Council says the pilot Community Consultation will gather first-hand feedback about the strengths, challenges and opportunities people see in Ellon. Council leaders, the chief executive and local councillors are due to attend and speak directly with participants.
When and where the Ellon drop-in takes place
- Date: Saturday, 22 August 2026
- Time: 9am to 1pm
- Venue: Neil Ross Square, at the Farmer’s Market
- Entry: Free, drop-in event
- Who can attend: Ellon residents and community groups
The supplied event notice does not include transport or accessibility information. As the session is organised as a drop-in, people can choose when to attend within the published opening hours rather than following a fixed programme.
Residents can raise priorities, challenges and local ideas
The discussion is intended to cover what Ellon may need in the future and how local organisations and residents could work together in the town’s interests. Participants can also raise the challenges faced by people in Ellon and surrounding areas while hearing about pressures facing the council.
Planned themes include:

- Ellon’s existing strengths and future needs
- Ideas for closer community collaboration
- Challenges affecting the town and surrounding area
- Opportunities for practical projects and partnerships
- Community-led activity that could continue after the event
The council says the conversations are designed to build a clearer picture of local priorities. Feedback may also help identify projects, partnerships and community activity that could be progressed following the session.
Feedback will help inform the emerging Ellon Place Plan
A central part of the event will be the local place plan: what it currently contains and how it could inform a wider Place Plan. The council intends to use the discussion to strengthen its understanding of residents’ aspirations and help shape the emerging Ellon Place Plan.
Residents and community groups wishing to contribute can arrive at Neil Ross Square at any time between 9am and 1pm on 22 August and speak directly with the council representatives attending.
