Harrow residents asked to nominate local heroes

By demoduck.co.uk editorial team

Harrow residents, workers and community groups are being asked to put forward nominations for this year’s Harrow’s Heroes awards, which recognise people who help neighbours, local organisations and the wider borough.

The awards are open to people and teams whose work benefits Harrow residents. Harrow Council says nominations can cover contributions of any size, from regular neighbourly support to wider voluntary or community service.

Who can be nominated for Harrow’s Heroes

Nominations are open for anyone who lives or works in Harrow, as well as people or teams who serve Harrow residents.

Eligible nominees may include volunteers, neighbours, community organisers, local teams, workplace groups or others who give time and effort to improve life in the borough. The council has said the awards are intended to recognise both large and small acts of service.

How to put someone forward

Residents and workers are being encouraged to nominate someone they believe has made a difference in Harrow.

A nomination should clearly explain what the person or team has done, who has benefited, and why their contribution stands out. Practical examples are likely to help show the impact, especially where the nominee has supported neighbours, strengthened community links or helped local residents through regular work.

Cllr Janet Mote, Harrow Council’s Cabinet member for Community and Culture, said: “Everyone knows a local hero. We want to hear about the amazing things they do in our borough.”

Next step for residents and workers

Anyone considering a nomination should prepare the nominee’s name, contact details where available, and a short account of their contribution before submitting it through the council’s Harrow’s Heroes process.

The awards will celebrate nominees later in the year, with Harrow Council describing the scheme as a way to thank people whose work helps make the borough a special place to live and work.
