Family Zone brings two free play days a week to Wrexham
Families can attend free Family Zone play sessions at the Wellbeing Hub in Crown Buildings, Wrexham, every Wednesday and Thursday during the summer holidays. The programme runs from 22 July to 31 August, with no sessions on Wednesday 19 or Thursday 20 August.
No booking is required, and the sessions are open to children of all ages. Every child must be accompanied by an adult. Families looking for another local summer activity can also consider Wrexham Kidsfest.
Free play, food and healthy-eating activities
The weekly sessions offer families a relaxed place to play, talk and spend time with others during the school break. Drinks and snacks are provided alongside the activities, so families can arrive without reserving a place.

Previous Family Zone days have included a dance party and children being served spaghetti hoops on toast. Dietitians from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have also helped children create their own breakfast cereal, combining a practical activity with discussion about positive food choices.
Fresh fruit, cereal, cereal bars and spaghetti hoops have been donated by Wrexham Foodbank. Staff members have contributed additional snacks, while BCUHB Dietetics and the health improvement team have helped facilitate activities.

Wrexham Council News reported that the sessions held so far had attracted numerous families. One parent said the programme had given their family something to do during the holidays while allowing the children to socialise.
The remaining Family Zone schedule
The sessions take place twice each week throughout the stated holiday period, apart from the two-day break in August.

What families need before attending
There is no registration process or advance ticket to arrange. Families can turn up at the Wellbeing Hub on an eligible Wednesday or Thursday, although they should remember that the sessions will pause on 19 and 20 August.
The combination of free entry, provided refreshments and activities for different ages makes the programme a practical weekly option for families seeking somewhere to spend time together during the school holidays. Its open-age format also means siblings can attend the same session, provided an adult remains with them.
