Londoners have a direct opportunity to explore proposals shaping the capital’s next 20 to 25 years at a free Draft London Plan consultation webinar on Wednesday 22 July. The Greater London Authority (GLA) will explain the plan, how the consultation works and how residents can respond.

The accessible session is open to London residents, community groups, students and anyone interested in the city’s future. Registration is required through the official London City Hall website.

Housing, transport and the environment are on the agenda

The Draft London Plan sets out proposals for how London could grow and develop over the coming decades. Its scope includes housing, transport, environmental policy and economic development, alongside other issues affecting the capital.

The webinar is designed as an introduction rather than a formal policy debate. Organisers will outline what the Draft London Plan is, why it matters and how members of the public can participate in the wider consultation.

That gives attendees a chance to understand the framework before submitting their own feedback. According to the GLA, responses will help inform the next London Plan before it is submitted for independent examination.

Questions can be sent before or during the webinar

People registering for the consultation webinar can submit questions in advance. The GLA says this will help organisers answer as many questions as possible during the 90-minute session.

There will also be a live question-and-answer element. Attendees can contribute through the Microsoft Teams chat or speak directly during the session, giving participants more than one way to raise points about the proposals.

British Sign Language interpretation will be provided. Anyone with additional accessibility requirements is asked to give details while registering or contact the organisers before the event using the address listed on the official event page.

A second accessible session is planned for September, although its date has not yet been confirmed. Both sessions are intended to provide an entry point for people who may not routinely follow planning policy but want to understand how London’s long-term development is being considered.

Microsoft Teams participants should check the privacy notice

The webinar will take place entirely online, so there is no physical venue or journey to plan. Attendees will need to register before joining through Microsoft Teams.

The registration declaration allows the GLA and its named third-party service provider to use the supplied personal information to administer the webinar. The authority says that information will be stored only for the period relevant to that purpose.

Participants should also be aware that the Teams chat will be open during the event. A person’s name may be visible to other attendees when they post a comment, and the GLA advises people to use the chat only if they accept that visibility.

Consultation responses close on 15 October

The webinar is one part of the broader Draft London Plan consultation. Londoners do not have to formulate every question during the live session: the event is intended to explain how they can examine the proposals and contribute through the consultation process.

The consultation closes at 5pm on Thursday 15 October 2026. Those planning to attend the 22 July webinar should register through the London City Hall event page and submit advance questions during registration if they want organisers to consider them before the live session.
