Cardiff residents travelling near Gwaelod-y-Garth still face one significant restriction following the recent flooding. The latest closure notice in Cardiff Council’s roundup, dated 2 August, says Heol Goch remains shut beyond the junction with Clos Goch when travelling out of Pentyrch.

The restriction applies to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists should follow the signposted diversion rather than attempting to pass the closed section.

Recovery operations are continuing in the affected area. Cardiff Council said on 31 July that it was working with emergency services and partner agencies as part of the response to the flooding incident.

Main Road has reopened after debris was cleared

Access has improved elsewhere in Gwaelod-y-Garth. Work on the final section of Main Road affected by flood debris was completed by 1 August, leaving the road fully cleared and open.

This means the continuing Heol Goch restriction should not be confused with the earlier disruption on Main Road. The council’s dated notices identify Heol Goch as the remaining closure, while Main Road is recorded as reopened.
