Residents, carers and families in West Northamptonshire are being asked to help shape the area’s next Adult Social Care Strategy, with free Big Conversation events starting on Monday 29 June.
The in-person sessions run across Northampton, Daventry and Towcester between 29 June and 2 July, with a dedicated online Microsoft Teams session for unpaid carers on Saturday 4 July from 10am to 12pm. The events are free and aimed at people who use adult social care services, family members, carers and anyone with direct experience of care and support.
West Northamptonshire Council says the programme is part of a wider engagement exercise, alongside an online survey open until 30 July 2026.
Five local sessions before the carers’ online event
The Big Conversation: Adult Social Care Strategy Engagement Events are designed to collect views in person before the council finalises its future approach to adult care and support.

What residents are being asked to share
The council wants to hear what is working well, what needs to improve and what matters most to people who draw on care and support. That includes people receiving adult social care, relatives involved in care decisions and unpaid carers who support someone day to day.
The timing matters because the council is developing a new Adult Social Care Strategy. The feedback gathered through the events and survey is intended to place residents’ experiences at the centre of future decision-making.
For families already dealing with care arrangements, a two-hour local session may be a more direct route to raise practical points than waiting for a later formal consultation. The programme also gives different parts of West Northamptonshire their own meeting slots, from Northampton neighbourhoods to rural areas around Daventry and Towcester.
Readers following similar public-service support events may also want to note recent coverage of free advice events for carers elsewhere in England.
Support is available for taking part
West Northamptonshire Council says support is available for people who may need help to take part. The source notice specifically lists alternative formats, help with travel and speaking with groups in their own settings.
Cllr Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Public Health at West Northamptonshire Council, said people’s experiences of care and support must shape how services are delivered in future.
“We want to hear what is working well, what needs to improve, and what matters most to you,” she said. “This is your opportunity to help us shape our future Adult Social Care services, and I would strongly encourage anyone with experience of Adult Social Care to take part and have their say.”
How to take part if you cannot attend
People who cannot attend one of the events, or who prefer to respond online, can complete the Adult Social Care survey. The survey remains open until 30 July 2026.
The confirmed event window is 29 June to 4 July, with free attendance, multiple venues across West Northamptonshire and an online option for unpaid carers.
