Three free August activity days for Waltham Cross teens
Young people aged 12 to 16 can try free sport, gaming and creative activities at Waltham Cross Playing Fields on Tuesday 4, 11 and 18 August 2026. The three Herts Summer Parks sessions will take place at Station Approach, Waltham Cross EN8 7LU.
No booking is required for entry. Young people and their parents or carers can register in advance for fast-track access, while each participant will receive a free food voucher redeemable at The Breakfast Bar and Greek Street in Waltham Cross.
Sport, virtual reality and creative workshops
The Herts Summer Parks 2026 programme combines physical challenges with digital and arts-based activities. The confirmed line-up includes inflatables, climbing, football and archery, alongside gaming and virtual reality.
Teenagers interested in creative sessions can take part in lyrical writing, graffiti art and jewellery making. The range means visitors can choose from several types of activity rather than attending an event focused solely on organised sport.
Sporting Inspirations CIC is delivering the programme in partnership with Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, Hertfordshire County Council and Broxbourne Borough Council. According to the Borough of Broxbourne Council event notice, trained youth leaders will staff the sessions.
The programme follows the 2025 edition of Herts Summer Parks, which attracted more than 1,000 young people across Hertfordshire. The published figure covers the wider county programme rather than Waltham Cross alone. This year’s Waltham Cross sessions again focus specifically on young people aged 12 to 16.
Three Tuesday dates at Waltham Cross Playing Fields
The programme runs on three consecutive Tuesdays:
- Tuesday 4 August 2026
- Tuesday 11 August 2026
- Tuesday 18 August 2026
Every session is at Waltham Cross Playing Fields, Station Approach, Waltham Cross EN8 7LU. Families can therefore choose one of the three published dates, although the event notice does not state whether the activity line-up will vary between them.
Drop-in entry and advance registration
Attendees can arrive without booking on the day. Advance registration is available at bit.ly/HertsSummerParks2026 for those who want fast-track entry, but it is not a condition of attendance.
The activities are free, and participants will also receive the food voucher for the two named Waltham Cross providers. The published information does not specify session times, transport arrangements or accessibility provision. Parents, carers and young people should check Sporting Inspirations CIC’s Summer Parks page at sportinherts.org.uk/Summer-Parks for the full activity and food-provider details before travelling.
