Sefton families get one place for local support

Sefton families can now use a new online Family Life Toolkit to find local advice, support sessions and service information without moving between different council and partner pages.

The Sefton Family Life Toolkit has been launched as a virtual family hub for parents, carers, children and young people. It brings together guidance on early years, health, education, special educational needs and disabilities, and parenting support, with built-in tools designed to make services easier to find and book.

Local family support brought into one portal

The toolkit is aimed at families who need clear signposting rather than a long search across separate services. It covers support from the early years through to advice for children and young people, including routes into health services, education guidance and SEND information.

For residents, the main change is practical: the portal is designed to show the right information at the point it is needed. Families can browse by topic and follow personalised pathways that point them towards relevant guidance, reminders and local services.

The platform also offers multiple language options and can adapt to the default language settings on a user’s device. That matters in a borough where public-service information often needs to work for families who may not use English as their first language at home.

Who the Family Life Toolkit is designed to help

The Sefton Family Life Toolkit is for parents and carers looking for advice, but it is also intended for children, young people, professionals and community partners.

Families may use it to find parenting guidance, early help information, local activities or support linked to school and health needs. Professionals and community groups can use the same portal to point families towards consistent information, reducing the risk of people being passed between services without a clear next step.

Sefton Council says the service forms part of its wider early help work, which is focused on improving outcomes for children and young people and making family support more joined up.

Bookings, live chat and voice search

A key feature is the integrated booking system. Families can browse and book local services, activities and support sessions directly through the platform, instead of navigating several separate booking routes.

The toolkit also includes a live chat function. According to Sefton Council, responses are drawn from the portal’s own content rather than external sources, so users are directed to information held within the service.

For accessibility, the portal includes audio-enabled search. Users can speak into the platform to find information, which may help people who prefer voice navigation or who have additional accessibility needs.

How families can access the toolkit

Families can use the Sefton Family Life Toolkit online and can also download it as an app to a smartphone or tablet. The app option is intended to make the service easier to use on the move, with access to the same support tools and guidance.

Cllr Diane Roscoe, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, said families want “clear, reliable and easy-to-access information” and that bringing services together in one place should help them get support more quickly and confidently.
