Refuel is proceeding at Badaguish in the Cairngorms National Park, Highland, but entry will be tightly controlled while firefighting operations continue. Only people with proof of site access or a valid event ticket will be allowed through the strict cordon.

Police Scotland published the access update on 3 August 2026. The notice does not give the event date, start time, ticket price, organiser or programme. Attendees should therefore check the event information supplied with their existing ticket or site-access arrangements before travelling.

Why restrictions remain around Badaguish

Firefighting activity continues to present a public-safety risk in the affected area. Operations include the movement of heavy machinery, helicopter water bombing, excavations and the removal of unsafe trees damaged by the fire.

Police Scotland said this activity would continue for the remainder of the week covered by its 3 August update. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, landowners and volunteers are continuing work to extinguish the fire, with cordons reviewed regularly.

Roads and walking routes still closed

Road closures remain on the C7 Ski Road, Forest Lodge access road, Lettoch Road and Dorback.

Closed walking routes include areas around Glenmore, Loch Morlich and Badaguish, as well as the Old Logging Way and routes towards Cairngorm Mountain, the Northern Corries, Meall A’ Bhuachaille, the Green Loch, Strath Nethy and Bynack More. Routes within Abernethy Forest south of Forest Lodge towards Ryvoan Bothy also remain closed.

Ticket holders should not assume that surrounding roads or recreational routes have reopened simply because Refuel is proceeding. Police Scotland expects further information about wider access later in the week as firefighting work progresses and safety conditions are reassessed.
