Poole and Bournemouth fireworks return for four free nights

Bright white fireworks display lighting up the dark night sky over Poole and Bournemouth.

Four free summer firework displays will take place at Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach between 27 August and 4 September 2026. Every display starts at 10pm, attendance is open to the general public and no booking is required.

Poole Quay hosts the first event on 27 August before the programme moves to Bournemouth beach on 28 August. The two locations will then stage additional displays on 3 and 4 September respectively.

Firework dates for Poole and Bournemouth

BCP Council has confirmed this four-evening schedule:

Date and venue Start time
27 August 2026 — Poole Quay 10pm
28 August 2026 — Bournemouth beach 10pm
3 September 2026 — Poole Quay 10pm
4 September 2026 — Bournemouth beach 10pm

The late-August displays are returning following discussions between the council, emergency services and other partners. The council said the decision was made after the wildfire risk across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole had reduced.

The two September dates carry the programme into the first week of the month. According to the council, the additional display will take place at no extra cost to the authority, with the rearranged event replacing a previously cancelled fireworks display.

What is planned at each location

Visitors choosing Poole Quay can expect more than the 10pm display. The council says its event will feature live music and family entertainment leading up to the fireworks finale. It has not published individual timings or further programme details for those activities.

For Bournemouth beach, the confirmed attraction is the fireworks display itself. No equivalent programme of live music or family entertainment is listed in the announcement, so visitors should not assume that the Poole Quay schedule also applies at the beach.

Councillor Richard Herrett, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations, described the fireworks as a summer-calendar highlight for residents and visitors. He said he was particularly pleased that the cancelled display had been rearranged for the first week of September.

Entry details and information still to be confirmed

All four displays are free, and spectators do not need to reserve a place or obtain a ticket. The council has asked those attending to enjoy the events responsibly.

The announcement does not give an exact venue address, transport instructions or accessibility information. It also does not list food stalls or other facilities. Anyone whose plans depend on those details should check the council’s event information before travelling rather than assuming the arrangements will be the same at Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach. The final confirmed display is at Bournemouth beach at 10pm on 4 September.
