Norwich string concert supports Mind on June 30

A classical concert bringing together the Victoria String Quartet and pupils from Norwich School will take place at Octagon Unitarian Chapel in Norwich on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

The concert starts at 6pm and is scheduled to run until 9pm at the chapel in Colegate. Tickets cost £25, with ticket sales donated to Norfolk and Waveney Mind through Music in the Burnhams.

The evening is aimed at classical music listeners, families connected with Norwich School, and anyone looking for a local arts event with a charitable purpose.

Chamber music comes to Colegate

Music in the Burnhams, a registered charity formed in 2021, has previously focused on bringing classical performances to informal venues in north-west Norfolk. This concert marks a move further into Norwich, with the Octagon Unitarian Chapel named as the setting for the June programme.

The charity says its work is built around widening access to classical performance. Its Norwich date follows earlier concerts featuring established classical artists and a recent partnership with Norwich School.

That school link is central to the Colegate concert. Norwich School’s choir was invited to perform at the charity’s Celebration of Sir Karl Jenkins concert in King’s Lynn at the start of May, alongside the King’s Lynn Festival Chorus and the British Sinfonietta orchestra.

Victoria String Quartet joined by Norwich School musicians

The Victoria String Quartet, formed in 2017, will lead the concert. The ensemble has performed at venues and festivals including the Buxton International Festival.

They will be joined by Norwich School’s Almary Quartet, made up of pupils Min Ting Deng, Min Ying Deng, Isaac Schaad and Tommy Cahir.

The programme will also feature former pupils Adam Possener on viola and Millie Clark on flute, along with current pupil Melissa Hawkins on horn. All three have taken part in Norwich School’s Making Musicians initiative.

Ticket sales go to Norfolk and Waveney Mind

Music in the Burnhams is continuing its support for Norfolk and Waveney Mind through the event. The charity has set an aim of raising £20,000 this year to support wellbeing projects for young people.

Ticket sales from the Norwich concert will be donated to Norfolk and Waveney Mind, according to the event listing.
