Jobseekers can meet 24 employers and employment-support organisations at two free Grangemouth events on Thursday 10 September 2026. Running from 10:00 to 14:00, the Jobs and Careers Insight Event will take place at Grangemouth Town Hall, while Grangemouth Municipal Chambers will host an Employability Support Open Day.

Falkirk Council is organising the events as part of the first Scottish Employability Day, during which local authorities across Scotland will highlight support available to people seeking work or training.

Together, the Jobs and Careers Insight Event and Employability Support Open Day offer two distinct routes through that support. The Town Hall programme focuses on conversations with employers about work and training opportunities, while the Municipal Chambers event brings together organisations that can help people address practical barriers to employment.

The Town Hall event will give visitors direct access to representatives who can discuss vacancies, recruitment, apprenticeships, training and different routes into work. Several of the employers are expected to be actively recruiting on the day.

Confirmed attendees include Balfour Beatty, Ogilvie, Stantec, Paragon, Class One Traffic Management, Lowland Cooperage, Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership and Falkirk Council.

The range allows visitors at different stages of their working lives to explore current openings as well as the skills and training employers may expect. Councillor Paul Garner, Falkirk Council’s spokesperson for Economic Development, said attendees would be able to find out what is available now, what could come next and which organisations can help them take that step.

Support services will focus on barriers to work

At Grangemouth Municipal Chambers, the Employability Support Open Day will concentrate on training, skills, confidence and advice, alongside other issues that can make entering or returning to work more difficult.

Participating organisations include CVS Falkirk, Cyrenians, Triage, Falkirk Council’s Welfare Benefits team, The Conservation Volunteers, Link Living, Go Youth Trust, Barnardo’s, One Parent Families Scotland and the Salvation Army.

This part of the day may be particularly relevant to visitors who are not yet ready to apply for a specific vacancy but want to identify the support available to help them move closer to employment.

There are no stated eligibility restrictions beyond the events being open to everyone. The council specifically identifies school leavers, career changers, people returning to work and those facing redundancy among the intended audience.

Falkirk Council reports that its employability service helped 408 local people enter work last year. It also supported 641 people to gain qualifications and 98 people to begin Modern Apprenticeships.
