Free Coffee + Connect returns for Shrewsbury firms

A steaming cup of black coffee sits beside an open notebook on wooden table.

Businesses meeting over coffee is not new in Shropshire, but the relaunched Coffee + Connect is being pitched as a more spacious, more structured monthly networking option for firms that want local contacts without a formal conference setting.

The free networking event is now based at Shropshire Wildlife Trust in Shrewsbury, with tickets available through Eventbrite for multiple dates. The source notice does not list a fixed start date or session time, so businesses planning to attend should check the current booking listing before travelling.

The move to Shropshire Wildlife Trust gives the networking club a new venue in Shrewsbury and, according to Shropshire Growth Hub, more space for attendees. The format has also been refreshed under the Coffee + Connect name.

What happens during the sessions

Each monthly session combines guided networking with informal conversation. Attendees are able to introduce themselves and their business, then take part in more relaxed discussions over refreshments.

That mix matters for small firms, start-ups and established companies that may want more than a quick exchange of business cards. A guided element gives people a route into the room; the informal time gives conversations space to continue naturally.

The organisers say there will also be opportunities for businesses to appear as guest speakers. That gives local firms another way to share expertise, prompt discussion and raise their profile among other Shropshire businesses.

Kim Parkin from Last Drop Coffee, who has attended the networking club several times, said the sessions had helped her meet people she would not otherwise have encountered and had brought practical insight into her business.

Why the format is aimed beyond start-ups

Shropshire Growth Hub describes the event as suitable for anyone from people just starting out to businesses that are already established. Ruth Westwood, Manager of the Shropshire Growth Hub, said the larger venue would allow more people to come together, while the refreshed format was designed to create more chances to share experience and begin useful conversations.

The Growth Hub is part of Invest in Shropshire at Shropshire Council. Its wider work includes business information, support, events, webinars and advice on grants, loans and assistance for companies in the Shropshire local authority area.

Mel Edwards from InSynch, which helps organise and run the event, said the aim was to bring the local business community together, exchange perspectives and encourage collaboration within the county’s business network.

Councillor Alex Wagner, Deputy Leader of Shropshire Council and Cabinet member for transformation and economic growth, said Coffee + Connect gives businesses a chance to step away from daily pressures, stay informed about local activity and feel part of a wider support network.

Check the booking page before attending

The confirmed venue is Shropshire Wildlife Trust in Shrewsbury, and refreshments are provided during the sessions. The council source states that Coffee + Connect is free and that dates and booking details are available via Eventbrite under Shropshire Business Coffee + Connect at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

No venue street address, start time or individual session date was included in the source notice, so those details should be checked on the live ticket listing before making plans.
