Street performers on the Royal Mile will be one visible part of the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a programme spanning 3,649 shows and 258 venues. The festival runs from 7 to 31 August at various locations throughout Edinburgh. Prices are set by individual events, with theatre, comedy, music, dance, circus and children’s shows among the options for audiences of all ages, including families.

The Forever Edinburgh event listing says the programme contains 53,884 performances across more than three weeks. There is no single daily opening time because venues and shows operate to individual schedules.

Street performances run daily until 30 August

Fringe Street Events will take place on the Royal Mile, Hunter Square and the Mound Precinct from 7 to 30 August. This part of the programme runs daily between 11am and 7pm, bringing international street performers, buskers and Fringe artists into central Edinburgh.

The outdoor events are described as family-friendly. BSL-interpreted street performances are scheduled for 9, 15 and 20 August at West Parliament Square. Visitors should note that the street programme finishes on 30 August, one day before the wider Fringe ends.

Selected Fringe performances will be relaxed, BSL interpreted, captioned or audio described. Visitors who require one of these formats can use the enhanced-performance listings to identify relevant shows rather than assuming that every performance of a production has the same provision.
