Ealing residents to see new council logo roll out
Ealing Council has introduced a new logo that will start appearing across its services, website and public communications, with the authority saying the design was produced in-house at no development cost.
The updated identity keeps a tree at its centre, maintaining a link with the borough’s historic coat of arms. The council said the change was needed because the previous logo, used for decades with only minor updates, no longer met required national accessibility standards and was designed before modern digital media became central to public services.
New design keeps the borough tree
The new logo for the London Borough of Ealing is still based on a tree, but has been redesigned with seven components. The council says these represent the seven towns in the borough.

Its fingerprint-style shape is intended to reflect both the distinct communities across those towns and the individuality of residents using council services. The wording has also changed from “Ealing” to “London Borough of Ealing”, a shift the council says better reflects the full borough rather than one town or the council institution alone.
Accessibility and digital use drove the change
The council said the old mark was no longer suitable for current accessibility requirements. Public bodies must ensure that digital and printed communications can be used by as many people as possible, including residents with visual or other access needs.

The authority also said the previous design predated the way councils now communicate online, where logos need to work clearly across websites, mobile screens, social platforms and service updates.
Gradual rollout to avoid extra spending
Ealing Council said the logo will be introduced over time to avoid unnecessary costs. Signs, vehicle branding and equipment logos will be replaced only when they would normally be updated, such as when a vehicle lease ends.
Residents may already see the new logo on the council website and Around Ealing channels, where it has been added at no extra cost. It will also appear on new signs at Perceval House, where signage had already been planned as part of work to open public spaces in the building for community use.
