Bridgend families get reassurance from four care homes
Four residential care homes run by Bridgend County Borough Council have received positive inspection outcomes, giving residents and families a clearer picture of the standards being delivered across the services.
All four homes receive positive inspection outcomes
Care Inspectorate Wales found ‘Good’ ratings across all inspection domains at Ty Ynysawdre, Ty Cwm Ogwr and Ty Llwynderw. Bryn y Cae also received ‘Good’ ratings for Care and Support, Leadership and Management, and Environment.
Bryn y Cae achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating for Wellbeing, the highest possible outcome in that domain. The inspection results recognise the person-centred approach used by staff, including support for individual choice, dignity, independence and residents’ connection with others.
The findings do not mean every aspect of care is rated Excellent. They show that all four council homes met the relevant inspection standards, while Bryn y Cae achieved the highest rating specifically for wellbeing.
Staff work behind the inspection results
The council said the outcomes reflect the contribution of its wider workforce, including care assistants, support workers, activity coordinators, managers, catering, domestic and maintenance staff.
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Health, Cllr Jane Gebbie, thanked staff for helping residents live fulfilling lives and for providing reassurance to their families. She said the results reflected the “commitment and compassion” shown by teams every day.
The council also pointed to its continued use of assistive technology, digital solutions and partnership working as it develops residential care services. Families comparing inspection outcomes may also find this overview of adult social care inspection ratings useful for context.
The inspection results were published on Thursday 30 July 2026, with the council confirming its commitment to continued investment in adult social care staff and services.
