Blackmill bridge works: Ogmore Valley residents can hear plans

Four men in high-visibility clothing and hard hats stand on a bridge discussing construction.

Ogmore Valley residents can hear how the A4061 Blackmill river bridge replacement will be phased, and what traffic arrangements are planned, at a public meeting on Wednesday 28 October.

Meeting details

The meeting is at 5.30pm on Wednesday 28 October 2026 at Blackmill Youth and Community Centre. It is intended to explain the work schedule, traffic management plans and arrangements agreed with public transport providers.

The council has not included further access or booking details in its notice. It also says a list of frequently asked questions about the bridge replacement is available on its website.

What the bridge replacement involves

The main deck of the A4061 bridge will be replaced in its entirety. The council says routine checks found significant cracks in the existing deck, and that replacement is the only safe, practical option to keep the route open.

Centregreat Limited has been appointed as contractor. The project involves a complex engineering process, and local gas, water and telecommunications services running beneath the bridge will need to be rerouted while work is under way.

Traffic and public transport plans

The A4061 is the main route in and out of the Ogmore Valley, so the works may affect journeys through Blackmill. The meeting is the council’s stated opportunity for residents to hear how the work will be phased to minimise inconvenience, alongside planned traffic management and measures agreed with public transport providers.

The council notice does not give specific dates for construction phases or list diversions. Residents can use the meeting to hear the schedule and arrangements as they are presented.
