Bilston Live – Britpop Reunion will bring the sound of 1990s British guitar music to the new Bilston Market event space on Friday 11 September 2026. The outdoor concert in Market Square starts at 6.30pm and is open to people aged 14 and over.

Advance tickets cost £8.50, while tickets bought on the day will cost £10. Both prices include the booking fee, according to City of Wolverhampton Council. The standing event will run until 9.30pm.

A DJ opening followed by a full Britpop tribute set

Indie DJ Dan Mawson, from VDUB Radio, will begin the music programme at 6.30pm with a selection of Britpop and indie tracks. Britpop Reunion will then take the stage at 7.30pm for a live tribute to the bands associated with the decade.

The professional tribute band’s set will feature recognisable songs from groups including Oasis, Blur, Supergrass and Pulp. With the DJ appearing before the main performance, the programme maintains its 1990s British indie focus from the scheduled start through to the live set.

The concert is likely to be most relevant to listeners who remember the original Britpop period or know the era through its best-known bands. However, the age restrictions apply throughout the event, including during the earlier DJ set.

Bilston Market’s new event space takes the stage

The performance will be held in the new event area introduced as part of the multimillion-pound refurbishment of Bilston Market. The council said the Market Square space was created to support community events in the town through the Pride in Place programme.

Council leader Stephen Simkins said the concert would give residents and visitors an opportunity to hear some of the decade’s biggest hits in the new Market Square area. The date adds another live-music fixture to Bilston’s local calendar following the music and family activities at Bilston Carnival.

For people considering a visit, the new setting is an important part of the event: this is an outdoor, standing concert rather than an indoor seated performance. The council advises attendees to dress for the weather.

Entry times, age rules and ticket options

Gates open at 6.15pm, giving ticket holders 15 minutes before the DJ set begins. Britpop Reunion starts at 7.30pm, last entry is at 8pm and the event finishes at 9.30pm.

Anyone who leaves the venue after being admitted will not be allowed to re-enter. That restriction is particularly relevant for attendees arriving early for the DJ set and intending to stay through the main performance.

People aged 14 or 15 must attend with an adult aged at least 18. Those aged 16 and over may attend unaccompanied, subject to the event’s overall 14-plus restriction.

Tickets are available through Bilston Live for £8.50 in advance or £10 on the day, with the booking fee included. The council announcement does not provide further transport, accessibility, food or stall information, so attendees should rely on the confirmed Market Square location, outdoor conditions and published entry rules when planning their visit.
