Families can attend Child-Friendly Medway’s free Super Saturday festival in central Chatham on Saturday, 29 August 2026. Activities will take place across Chatham High Street and the Pentagon Shopping Centre, with superheroes, cinema cars, a themed trail and mask-making among the confirmed attractions.

The event is aimed at families, while children and young people will also have their final opportunity to vote for Medway’s first Young Mayor. Medway Council’s published notice confirms that entry is free but does not give opening or closing times.

Super Saturday is being presented by Child-Friendly Medway in partnership with Love Chatham and the Pentagon Shopping Centre. It is partially funded through the Medway Together Fund.

Superheroes, cinema cars and family activities

The festival will turn the High Street and shopping centre into a superhero-themed activity area. Visitors will be able to meet superhero characters and take photographs, while a giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters will also feature.

Families can get close to some of cinema’s classic cars and photograph them. The programme also includes a hero-themed trail and an opportunity for children to design their own masks before meeting their favourite superheroes.

The activities are spread across both named parts of the venue, so visitors should expect the event to extend beyond a single indoor or outdoor point. Medway Council services and partner organisations will also attend to explain how they support families across Medway, adding a local-services element alongside the entertainment.

Final chance to vote for Medway’s first Young Mayor

Super Saturday is also the final voting opportunity announced for children and young people choosing Medway’s first Young Mayor. The council says the ballot is intended to help younger residents make their voices heard as Medway works to become more child-friendly.

Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, encouraged families to attend for both the activities and the chance to learn about the work of the Child-Friendly Medway team. He identified the Young Mayor vote as another central purpose of the event.

Check the missing details before travelling

The council notice confirms the date, Chatham venues and free entry, but it does not state start or finish times, booking arrangements, transport information or accessibility provisions. Families who need any of those details should check the Medway Council event page before setting out.

Children and young people who want to participate in the Young Mayor ballot should note that Saturday’s festival is the final voting opportunity identified in the council announcement.
